James C. Munch III

Jim was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 30, 1962. He is a graduate of Brown University, with Honors (BA 1985), New York University (MA, Political Science, Methodology), and the University of Maine School of Law (JD 1991). In Law School, he was President of the International Law Students Association. Following his graduation, he was the Law Clerk for Judge James B. Haines of the United States Bankruptcy Court, 1991-92. He is admitted to the Penobscot Tribal Court, United States District Court and the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals and is a member of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Penobscot, Maine and American Bar Associations. He lives in Bangor, where he enjoys hiking, both in summer and winter, rock climbing, fly fishing, and sea kayaking. His areas of practice include educational law, divorce and family law, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and criminal defense. He is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Maine at Orono in classical history.
