Susan R. Kominsky awarded the Vincent L. McKusick Award.
The McKusick Award, named in honor of former Maine Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Vincent L. McKusick, was created by the justices and judges of Maine's trial courts to recognize a person who has contributed substantially to the administration of justice and the delivery of judicial services to the people of Maine. The recipient must be nominated by justices, judges or family law magistrates.

Personal Injury Matter

A young man was severely injured due to coming in contact with overhead power lines which were placed too low by the utility company. Lisa Cohen Lunn and her co-counsel, Barry Mills of Hale & Hamlin, obtained a multi-million dollar judgment for the benefit of their client, which was upheld unanimously by the Maine Law Court, which is the highest court in the State of Maine.

Governor John Baldacci appoints Marvin H. Glazier, Esquire to the Maine Commission on Indingent Legal Services.


The Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services was established by the Legislature in 2009. The Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services is an independent commission whose purpose is to provide efficient, high-quality representation to indigent citizens who are entitled to counsel at state expense under the United States Constitution or under the Constitution or statutes of Maine. The Commission uses assigned private attorneys and contract counsel to provide representation to criminal defendants, juvenile defendants, parents in child protective cases, and people facing involuntary commitment to a psychiatric hospital who are indigent. The Commission does not provide representation to people in other types of cases, such as divorce, eviction, foreclosure or small claims.
