Nicole A. Black


Nicole grew up in Topsham, Maine and is a graduate of North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine. In 2002, she graduated summa cum laude from Colby College in Waterville, Maine with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and English. In 2004, she received a Master of Arts in Byzantine Art History from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Nicole received her Juris Doctor in 2010 from the University of Maine Law School in Portland, Maine. While there, she received the ACC Northeast Law Student Ethics Award. She is admitted to the Bar in Maine and the Penobscot Nation Tribal Court. Nicole is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Maine Bar Association, the Penobscot County Bar Association, and the John Waldo Ballou Inn of Court.

Nicole joined Vafiades, Brountas & Kominsky, LLC in 2017 and is a member of the Firm’s family law and general civil litigation practice. Prior to joining VBK, she practiced family law at Partners for Peace in Bangor, Maine and was a CADRES mediator for the court.

When not working, Nicole enjoys watching professional hockey, reading, cross-stitching, restoring and repainting dolls, traveling, and spending time with her husband and family.
