Firm History

Serving with respect and individual attention since 1971

In 1957, Lewis V. Vafiades and his cousin, Nicholas P. Brountas, joined forces and opened a law firm in their native Bangor, Maine. Their goal was to provide high quality legal services to individuals and businesses throughout Maine. They practiced law together as an association from 1957 to 1972. The law firm of Vafiades, Brountas & Kominsky, LLP was formed in 1971 by Lewis V. Vafiades, Nicholas P. Brountas & Susan R. Kominsky.

The respect and recognition earned from the days when Lew, Nick and Sue founded our firm to the present have allowed us to create long-term client relationships. Our tradition of common sense advice, respected legal skills and hard work have allowed us to develop and sustain these relationships over the years.

We pride ourselves in providing first rate legal services to clients on an individual basis and according to each client’s specific needs. This approach is the bedrock upon which the law firm of Vafiades, Brountas & Kominsky, LLP was formed and still serves as our guide today for serving our clients.
